Our story

Who We Are
Walk In My Shoes CIO is a Gloucester-based charity working to preserve and protect the health of people from Black and minority ethnic (BME) communities in Gloucestershire.
We believe that real progress happens when communities and health providers walk together — sharing experiences, listening deeply, and acting on what matters most.

Our history

Walk In My Shoes CIO (Reg. No. 1204479)

Is a Gloucester-based charity working to improve the health and wellbeing of Black and minority ethnic (BME) communities in Gloucestershire.

We achieve this by:

  1. Raising Awareness
Hosting community-led sessions — including podcasts, talks, seminars, guest speakers, conferences, training, and meetings — to share vital health and wellbeing information relevant to BME communities.

  2. Mentoring for Health Understanding
Running a mentoring programme that partners NHS leaders and representatives with local BME community members. This builds mutual understanding of health needs and concerns, helping to improve health outcomes.

  3. Creating Space for Dialogue
Facilitating a forum and engagement group where the NHS and local community can come together to identify and address healthcare disparities and challenges faced by the BME community
